Police donate $2.5M in musical instruments to scouts

Georgetown: The Guyana Police Force on Tuesday donated $2.5M worth in musical instruments to the ‘E’ Division (Linden/Kwakwani) scouts and another donation of such is to be made to the scouts of ‘G’ Division (Essequibo Coast and Islands) sometime in the coming week.

According to public relations officer, constable Asif Hakim, the musical instruments donated comprised of one base drum, two snare drums, two trombones, one tenor saxophone,  one alto saxophone two Bb Clarinets, two trumpets, two flutes along with the accessories for the instruments that of the cleaning kit, oil, straps, sticks, amongst others.

Speaking at the simple but significant handing over ceremony Ms. Graham urged the scouts to take care of the instruments and to make use of them. She also said that training will be provided to the scouts at least two times per week by ranks of the Guyana Police Force Bandroom so that the scouts will be fully “au fait” of how to use the instruments.

Commander ‘E’ Division, Fizal Karimbaksh thanked the Force on behalf of the scouts for the donation. He said that after the youths would have been fully trained, ranks from the Guyana Police Force Bandroom would not have to travel up to the Division for certain event because the scouts will get the job done.
