PNCR hosts 50th Independence Anniversary exhibition

IMG_1741Georgetown: The People National Congress Reform (PNCR) held an exhibition in honour of Guyana 50th Independence Anniversary at the Regional Office in Georgetown. The exhibition was organized by the Office Manager Monica Thomas and the District Officer Manager. On display were a number of historic artifacts reminiscent of Guyana’s pre -independence, and post-Independence era.

 Also, on display were replicas of our minerals and other historic pieces that represented the policies of the Burnham administration; feed cloth and house the nation. The popular tie-dye cloth and ceramic pieces were on display which depicted the textile and ceramic industries which were popular and economically viable Industries during the Burnham era.

Mayor Patricia Chase-Green said that exhibition reminded her of the manufacturing potential and capacity of Guyana and struggles of the Guyanese people to attain Independence. She further noted that exhibitions like these are important to the nation since it helps us to understand where we came from as a people so that we can charter a new course.
