PM says State of Emergency stays

Chaguanas: Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has sounded a warning that her government has no intention of giving in to the calls of those who believe the State of Emergency should end.

The prime minister was last evening addressing the launch of the Divali Nagar in Chaguanas.

She told her audience that there are some who appear to be championing the cause of criminals in their call for the state of emergency to end. But she says as prime minister, any decision to stop the State of Emergency at this time, would be to abdicate her responsibility to law-abiding citizens. who have been under seige by criminals.

The State of Emergency is due to ened on December 5th. It includes curfew hours from 11pm to 4 am.
