Pedal cyclist died at hospital after being struck down by motor car

West Coast Demerara : The police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred last night on the Patentia Public Road, West Bank Demerara and which resulted in the death of pedal cyclist Prem Sukdeo of Patentia Housing Scheme, WBD.

The Police says Prem Sukdeo was riding his bicycle when he was struck down by a motor car, the driver of which drove away from the scene.

Prem Sukdeo was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital and later succumbed.

The motor vehicle also struck down 18 year old Michael Alleyne of Patentia, who was walking along the roadway and who has been admitted to the Hospital suffering from injuries to his left hand and foot.

The police subsequently apprehended the driver of the motor car at Wales, WBD, and he was found to be over the legal limit in terms of alcohol consumption.

He is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
