IMG_1843Georgetown: Town Clerk of Georgetown visited the Parliament View Vendors Mall to look at the extant conditions affecting the vendors who were relocated.

Town Clerk Royston King gave a commitment to ensure that overtopping experienced when it rains is alleviated; tents that were damaged would be repaired or replaced. During this visit the fruits vendors complained that business was slow while there were other vendors who said that they were happy and contented with the arrangements, they have lights, garbage disposal, toilet facilities and water.

The Clerk of Market was assigned to rearrange some of the fruit vendors who complained that they were placed at the back of the facility. Some of the vendors still have hopes of returning to the Stabroek Market Square, Town Clerk King said a return to the Stabroek Square was not possible. The Council is seeking to find a permanent solution to the vending issues. Town Clerk noted that several areas have identified these would be tabled at full Council for deliberation, resolution and implementation. The proposed areas include constructing another tier at the Stabroek Market Bazzar, Bourda Green and the acquisition of properties within the central business district.  Also, in another three weeks the office of the clerk of markets would be relocated to kitty market. The vendors who operated at Stabroek Market would be relocated at the Transport and Habour wharf, to facilitate the demolition and reconstruction of modern facility.

The Council has received several artistic impressions of the proposed beauty lounge which will transform the Merriman Mall area; it is anticipated that buliding would accommodate Barbers Hairdressers other beauticians. Also, the Council anticipates that this would be private public partnerships in this venture.
