Parliament clears $2.514B in supplementary spending

Georgetown: The National Assembly late last evening approved a supplementary provision on the current and capital estimates totalling $2.514B for the period January 01 to December 31, 2017.

The extra budgetary funding includes:

Ministry of Agriculture-$730.640M

-Flood Risk Assessment Project: construction of three pump stations, continued rehabilitation of the East Demerara Water Conservancy

-Rural Agricultural Infrastructure Development Project-rehabilitation of the pump station at Mocha, East Bank Demerara (EBD.)

-Sustainable Agriculture Development Project-resources associated with an agriculture census

Ministry of Business-$197.098M

-Works on the Lethem Industrial Estate development

Ministry of Public Infrastructure-$520M

-Sea Defence at Rotterdam-Ruimzeight, West Coast Demerara (WCD) and at Cottage Mahaicony.

-The Bagotsville Main Access Public Road

-Rehabilitation of MV Sandaka

Ministry of Public Health-$98.300M

-Procurement of platelepheresis machine for the National Blood Bank

-Procurement of a Mammography machine for the National Blood Bank.

Ministry of Legal Affairs-$116.321

-Provision for the establishment of the State Assets Recovery Agency (SARA)

Ministry of Public Security-$765.037M

-The establishment of the National Anti-Narcotic Agency

-Prisons: construction of temporary holding facilities at the Lusignan Prison; cleanup at the site at Camp Street Prison, refurbishment of the dormitory among others.

Public Service Appellate Tribunal-$22.553M

-Provision for salaries and allowances

-Purchase of office equipment and furniture

Public Procurement Commission-$62.119M

-Provision for salaries and allowances and charges such as rent, security, electricity and water

-Purchase of equipment, a vehicle, computers, equipment
