Paper ballots arrive in Guyana under strict security

vOTEGeorgetown: Almost 600, 000 paper ballots arrived from Canada into Guyana Sunday under stringent security in preparations for r next month’s General and Regional Elections.

The Street surrounding the Guyana Election Commission’s office in Kingston was cordoned off by security forces as enclosed trucks delivering the ballots made its way into the compound.

On May 11, the two main political parties: the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPPC) which has been in power for the last 23 years and the main opposition coalition of A Partnership for National Unity+ Alliance For Change (APNU+AFC) which is seeking to bring a change in governance will vie for the Presidency.
