Over 80 toshaos sworn-in as Rural Constables

Georgetown : The fight to reduce crime in the rural areas was highlighted at the National Toshaos (Amerindian Chief) Conference when more than 80 persons took the oath of office of Rural Constables (RCs).These Toshaos now have the power of arrest in executing the functions of an RC in their individual communities.RCs are civilians who work closely with the police playing an ancillary role in maintaining law and order at the community level.
