Orientation and training for Cuban trained Guyanese doctors

Georgetown : The Ministry of Health will be deploying an additional 181 doctors into the Health Sector.  This is in addition to the 70 Cuban trained Guyanese doctors who recently graduated in Guyana.  This new batch of Cuban trained Guyanese doctors graduated in Cuba and will be joining their colleagues within the next month after they complete the orientation and training session that has been introduced by the Ministry of Health.

 The orientation will include a general induction that entails the review of the policies, programs, services of the Ministry and training in completion of all medical records in keeping with the laws of Guyana.  The doctors will also be exposed to the principles of working within the public service.  The orientation will commence on September 16, 2013 at the Guyana International Conference Centre, Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown.

 Additional training will include Advances in Labour and Risk Management (ALARM) and Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Pediatric Life Support (PLS).

 Training in ALARM will be done in batches of 60 doctors and already commenced at the Ocean View Convention Centre, Ocean View Hotel, Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown on September 12, 2013.
