Opposition MPs interview by police

Bridgetown.

Three Opposition members of Parliament  were this morning interviewed by police at the District ‘A’ Police Station, they are Leader of the Opposition Mia Mottley, Shadow Attorney General Dale Marshall and Leader of Opposition Business in the House of Assembly Kerrie Symmonds.

The three MPs were questioned by the police in relation to an article written in the Nation Newspaper on July 16  title by  by Associate Editor Barry Alleyne title Opposition Walks out.

It was published after the Opposition walked out of the House of Assembly citing unfair treatment by Speaker of the House Michael Carrington.

Marshall told journalists that while he and his colleagues supported the work of the police, it was “unfortunate” that charges were being considered against a media house.

“I can tell you that we have given written statements to the Royal Barbados Police Force indicting that on the advice of counsel we refuse to make any statement in this matter,” he said.

Reports indicate consideration is also being given to charges against the NATION and Alleyne.
