Opposition files motion against Prime Minister’s conduct

rowley  Port of Spain; The People's National Movement Leader Dr. Keith Rowley, filed a motion questioning Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar's action with respect to her failure in dealing with all the issues Surrounding National Security Minister Jack Warner.  The motion is expected to be debated on Private Members day (April 26).

Rowley claimed that Warner's presence in the Cabinet is damaging the country's international reputation which he considered as serious. "The presence of Jack Warner in the Cabinet, as an acting prime minister and a confidant of the Prime Minister is damaging the interest of the people of Trinidad and Tobago… it is not a laughing matter,"

Mr Warner has been the focus of reports regarding probes of his tenure in World football as FIFA vice-president and president of Concacaf and the Caribbean football union, along with a FBI probe. Rowley was speaking at a PNM meeting held at Embacadere basketball court, Lady Hailes Avenue, San Fernando.

He lamented in front of a large crowd that the legislation which permits the execution of convicted killers was a good law, as opposed to the legislation the present Government was tying to implement to replace the existing law. He assured the crowd that the Government's proposal will "guarantee that you hang nobody in this country."

Also in support of Mr Rowley's statements was PNM Public Relations Officer Faris al-Rawi and Opposition Senator Fitzgerald Hinds who said they "could not ask for a better political leader than Dr. Keith Rowley."
