East Bank Demerara : Yesterday at about 9pm, taxi-driver Zaheer Khaleel, 22 years, of Diamond Housing Scheme, EBD, was held up in the Housing Scheme by two men who had hired him, one of whom was armed with a firearm.
The perpetrators took away his cell phone and $10,000.00 and fled the scene.
Police ranks quickly responded to the report and confronted the suspects at Diamond Housing Scheme during which there was an exchange of gunfire, but no one was injured.
One of the suspects has been arrested and the stolen cell phone was found in his possession. The other suspect managed to escape.
