Delaying hanging by appeals will be stopped says PM

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar promised "bomb" of an announcement failed to explode in Parliament today. She announced that the Constitution will be ammended to ensure that the death penalty can be implemented without hindrance. Persad-Bissessar made the statement today in the second sitting of the Lower House for the year. Convicted killers delaying hangings with appeals will no longer be tolerated, Persad-Bissessar has said.
She says that the reumption of the death penalty will act as a deterrent to crime, as the government seeks to get a grasp on the spiralling murder rate.
