Hundreds bid Sir Ellis farewell

Hundreds of people, including school children, turned at the National Academy for Performing Arts (NAPA) today to bid farewell to this counrty's first president, Sir Ellis Clarke.

Final rites were performed on Clarke in two separate funeral services today. Around 9.30 am a private service was held for Clarke at the Church of Assumption in Maraval. Around 11.30 am a State funeral was held for Clarke at NAPA. Hundreds of people lined the street in honour of Clarke. The whos who of Trinidad and Tobago, including President George Maxwell Richards, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bisessar and Chief Justice Ivor Archie were also present.
