Officers praised for vigilance over the weekend

Port of Spain: The long Easter weekend is over and as the country returned to its usual routine, the police are coming in for praise for their vigilance over the entire period. There were several road blocks throughout the country as citizens made their way to visit family and friends or to the nations beaches. From as far as Toco the police were out doing their duties. Drivers who ventured to Chaguaramas, Manzanilla, Maracas and Vesigny all reported the same response. 

It was reported that several stolen cars were recovered, persons were arrested for narcotics and other offences and over 100 tickets were issued. 

Although the road block caused huge traffic pile up, the citizens were for the most part understanding. The exercises were co-ordinated by Snr Supt Wayne Boyd and led by ASP Ajith Persad. Also Insps Noel, Jawahir, Powder and Ramdeen, Cpl Williams and others from the Stolen Vehicles Squad, Guard and Eemergency Branch, Canine Unit and Port of Spain CID.
