Region 9 : In an update given by officials of the Ministry of Health in Region 9, there has been no increase in water borne diseases. Two teams were dispatched into Moco Moco to conduct 346 smears for malaria, however only eight were positive and were not serious, hence the patients were treated and sent home. The dispatched teams also conducted health talks with villages about the importance of evacuation from the flood, the proper disposal of garbage and treatment of water. No outbreak of water-borne diseases has been reported
As flood water continues to recede, medical outreaches to all the neighbouring communities and shelters continue, with the teams distributing sanitation kits that include jeyes fluid, and bleach.
