NGSA results to be announced soon – Education Minister

Priy Man

Georgetown : The results for the 2013 sitting of the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) can be expected to be announced during the week of June 10 or before that, Education Minister Priya Manickchand said. This will be the first time these results will be released earlier than usual.

“We intend to make early results a feature of the Ministry,” she stated.  The Minister explained that the Ministry is looking at measures to make the process faster; for instance the use of technology to mark the multiple choice papers which is being done across the world.

Minister Manickchand indicated her satisfaction with the process thus far.

In April, Minister Manickchand along with the Director of the National Centre for Education Resource Development (NCERD) Jennifer Cumberbatch and other Ministry officials had checked on the progress of marking NGSA scripts during a visit to the Police Officers’ Mess where the process was ongoing.

This year 17,000 students wrote the NGSA during the Easter Holidays, but prior to sitting the exam, candidates wrote the National Grades 2 and 4 assessments. The results will report on their overall performance at the three levels.
