Georgetown : Davin Washington was today appointed health coordinator within the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development to boost the delivery of health care within the administrative regions.
Minister within the Ministry of Health, Dr. Bheri Ramsaran explained that this step was taken since it has been recognised that there are some inadequacies in coordinating initiatives from the Central Ministry to the Regions.
Minister Ramsaran said that the coordinator will also aid in ensuring persons within the various regions, particularly the outlying communities, access information about medical training opportunities provided by the Health Ministry.
It is hoped that this will result in more persons applying for the training programmes in areas such as nurse assistant, pharmacy assistant, x-ray technician and medical laboratory technician.
