Ryan ‘RyRy’ Persaud is fresh, talented and heating up the sound waves. This new kid on the block will debut his first single, PARADISE feat. Manifest and June Starr, on June 29th, 2013. This song pays tribute to his homeland, Guyana. His second single, JUST A BOY, is slated for release shortly after and a highly anticipated Mashramani 2013 fusion song that will be a club banger. RyRy's music is a fusion of genres that will leave everyone asking for more.
RyRy performed at the Guyana Trade Show and Expo on June 28th at Queens College in Queens, New York. Those in attendance included the president of Guyana, His Excellency Donald Ramotar, other government officials, and, of course, his fans, who he proudly calls #teamRyRy.
Born in New Amsterdam, Guyana but raised in the Empire State, RyRy has always had a passion for music. As early as eight years old he knew he wanted to write and sing songs. At the time however, he did not know much about genres but living in Berbice, Guyana he was exposed to mainly Bollywood music and became fascinated by the Indian beats and rhythm. Another popular genre was reggae.
When he was thirteen RyRy moved to the US and settled in Queens, NY. He describes his experience of arriving in the US and being introduced to other genres of music as “like a kid in a candy store”. He immediately gravitated towards R&B, pop and reggae.
Today, RyRy is proud to declare that he is not defined by a single type of music. What he is offering to his fans is something entirely new and refreshing. It’s a genre of music that combines many different styles to create a fusion he calls ‘G POP’, short for Caribbean/West Indian/Guyanese pop.
RyRy believes in creating his own style and musical flavour. He writes most of his songs as this keeps him in control of his music and allows him to write and sing his story from a personal point of view. Nevertheless, he enjoys collaborating with other artistes. He explains that it is very uplifting when you can take your own work and combine it with another talent and make a big explosion of music. He supports artistes helping each other on the climb upwards.
