New building for NFMU-ITU experts to discuss transition from Analog to digital

Georgetown :  Cabinet Secretary Dr. Roger Luncheon today disclosed that a brand new building will be erected at Lodge after demolishing the present National Frequency Management unit (NFMU) building.

 

He said the current structure will be replaced by a three-storey concrete building, 1,800 square feet, and will house Government and state telecommunication broadcasting entities.

 

Dr. Luncheon also advised that the NFMU will be hosting the visit of an International Telecommunication Unit (ITU) expert during the period July 29 to August 2. He explained that the specialist will be here to provide guidance to Guyana in development of the roadmap for its transition from analog to digital terrestrial television broadcasting.

The ITU expert will meet with the national roadmap team, the representatives of the telecommunication and broadcasting sectors in Guyana.

 

Among the agenda is discussions on the examination of the policies, guidelines and other likely details that will be applicable to Guyana’s transition from the analog to the digital system.
