New age for nursery school entry as of September 2014

Priya ManickchandGeorgetown: As of September 2014, the age of children entering nursery schools will be changed to three years, six months, according to Education Minister Priya Manickchand.

She explained that after a careful analysis was done, the ministry found that children, who are born on March 31, must wait until September the following year, to enter the school system.

Further, minister Manickchand explained that the child, who is born on June 30, would then be three years-three months in September, and three years –six months at the end of the year.

Additionally, she said parents will be informed of the changes nationally and teachers, placement officers and children would have to be prepared for this new development.
