Miss Jamzone delegates call on President

Georgetown : The nine Miss Jamzone International 2012 delegates today paid a courtesy call on President Donald Ramotar who extended best of luck to them as they take to the stage tomorrow night for what promises to be a closely contested evening of beauty and elegance.

According to a Government Information Agency release this afternoon, in the company of Coordinator Clive Prowell and reigning Miss Jamzone International Javon Wilson, the delegates, drawn from different nations in the Caribbean, accompanied their visits with gifts for the Head of State.

It is the first time in Guyana for the majority of the contestants, who were amazed at the food and wildlife and are now experiencing firsthand what they have been seeing and hearing about the only English speaking country on the South American continent.

Jasmine Perez, contestant from the British Virgin Islands said, “I don’t think the people of Guyana back in the BVI have done Guyana justice because I had even more of a good time than I thought that I would … it’s been wonderful, hospitality is definitely something you (Guyana) are prized on.”

“It was very nice of him (President) to take the time out to meet all of us. I think we were all a little nervous going in and what to expect but, he put all of our nerves to ease,” contestant from Jamaica Kerry Baylis said.

Ayanna Harris is Guyana’s Miss Jamzone delegate who is entering the pageant with optimism and hopes of making the home crowd proud.
