Minister apologises for misuse of Govt-issued credit card

Tobago: Tobago Affairs Minister Vernella Alleyne Toppin has issued an unreserved apology to the chairman of the Tobago Organisation of the People over the abuse of a government issued credit card, mere days after the chairman outrightly condemned the abuse.

The minister who is a member of the Tobago Organisation of the People is now saying that she wants to bring redress and closure to the matter.

In her letter she says all balances drawn on the account have been  repaid in full, use of the card has been discontinued and the actual card has been returned to First Citizens Bank.

The minister says she has also taken steps to personally review and address any areas of breakdown in the administrative process in the Ministry of Tobago Development, to ensure that matters of this nature do not occur.

She says her commitment remains to transparency, integrity and accountability in all operations.
