Georgetown: Eleven persons are feared dead and several others were injured after a huge mining cave-in at Mowsie Creek, Region 8 Sunday afternoon.
Reports reveal that a rescue team has been dispatched to the area. Pit collapses have been a frequent occurrence in the mining industry.
While working during the heavy rains 19 miners were initially trapped in the pit. However, several managed to be rescued and transported to the Mahdia Hospital where they were admitted.
