Mayor Green honoured on nurse’s day

IMG_1662Georgetown:  The Mayor and Councillors of the City of Georgetown honoured nurses who work within the employ of the Council at a special lunch held at the Pegasus Hotel, on International Nurses Day. Councillors Oscar Clarke Chairman of the Finance Committee thanked the nurse for the service they provide to the citizens of Georgetown.

He noted that the Council recognizes the importance of the service nurse provide and  would continue  to work to ensure that the nurses have the facilities necessary to carry out  their mandate effectively. He noted that nurses working beyond the call of duty, in crisis situation to ensure that many receive critical health care services. 

The Council   provides maternal child health service to over five thousand persons which include: family planning, voluntary counselling and testing, home visits, pre and post-natal care 

In 1931 the Municipal infant welfare and Maternity Centre was constructed from special funds provided by the government. The City Council has three health centers, located at Bourda, Festival City and Albouystown.

 Mayor Patricia Chase Green received special recognition for dedicated service to the nursing profession.
