Man remanded to prison for injuring mother’s lover

prisonGeorgetown: Deon Braithwaite, who is accused of wounding his mother’s former lover, with intent to murder him was remanded to prison until November 5, 2013.

The labourer from Lodge, Georgetown appeared before Magistrate Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry Tuesday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Braithwaite was not required to enter a plea to the allegation. The court heard that Braithwaite and the plaintiff share the same neighbourhood and have an ongoing problem, whereby he accuses the complainant of giving his mother a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD). On October 29, the alleged victim was at home when the defendant reportedly kicked down his door, ran into the house and dealt the man several chops about the body.  He was admitted to Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC.)
