Man arrested for photographing ballot

Bridgetown.

A man has been arrested after he took a picture of a ballot at a polling station with a cell phone after it was marked with an x for one of the candidates contesting the 2013 general elections.

According to reports, the incident took place after allegations surfaced that certain individuals were pay Barbadians for their votes.

The infrigement occurred late yesterday afternoon, the man is likely to be charged with breaching the secrecy of an elections.

The penality for such an offence on summary conviction is six months in jail.
