Linden Leader no Muslim Extremist

Kuice Sharma Solomon, Chairman of the Region 10, Guyana which is currently engaged in a prolonged protest action, on Saturday last during the first rally held in the mining town since the shootings, declared that he is no Muslim extremist.

He drew reference to statements that the Community is being misled by “extremists” and retorted, “I am a Muslim, I take that a personal insult to my Religion.”

Sharma declared that he is no extremist and said that, “they fail to respond to me as your Regional Chairman…I have heard all the calls they have called me.”

He says that he is aware of the various labels, “little boy, racist and extremist” painted on him and retorted “I pay little attention it…. responding to that will take away from the meaningfulness of your struggle, I instead direct my patience to your struggle as I am here to serve you.”

Sharma cautioned that the Government is very skilful at pedaling propaganda and warned, “our quest for justice must not be self inflicted.”

He warned that Lindeners must be vigilant and be on the watch for those among them looking to perpetrate crimes.

Sharma used the opportunity to condemn the looting of the Digicel Store saying, “We strongly condemn those who want to loot and rob and steal…This was never a political struggle…It was never a racial struggle it was always a peoples struggle.”
