Laptop/ tablets for Grade Six high achievers

Georgetown : The top performing students at the recent National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) will be given free laptops or tablets courtesy of the Government, according to Minister of State, Joseph Harmon.

The minister said that Cabinet approved a request by Education Minister Dr. Rupert Roopnaraine for 168 instruments to be distributed to students who excelled across Guyana. “Therefore children who would have performed well at Ituni, Kwakwani, at Lethem, at Mahdia, in Georgetown, in New Amsterdam, they will be suitably rewarded,” Minister Harmon said.

The Ministry of Education, it was noted, has given a commitment to ensure that students have improved information access, and perform even better at other examinations they will sit in the future.

Approximately 15,200 students sat the NGSA on April 1 and 2 in four core subjects, Mathematics, English Language, Science and Social Studies.
