Judge to decide on Garcia’s freedom

Justice Margaret Reifer will interview the Barbadians who plan to house Cuban National Raul Garcia upon his release from the custody of the Immigration Department.

Justice Reifer decided yesterday that housing arrangements for Garcia will be discussed in chambers of the No.9 Supreme Court on April 15.

If all goes well at the hearing Garcia could be a free man. Justice Reifer met privately yesterday morning with Garcia's attorney David Commissiong and lawyers from the Solicitor General Office to finalize details for the April 15 hearing.

Garcia served a 20 year jail sentence for drug trafficking, but upon his release from jail, he was place in a detention centre at Dalkieth, St Michael because Cuba would not let him retun nor would the United States where he lived from the age of tencuban
