Jamaican caught with drugs at GAIA

Bridgetown.

Damion Eglon Hibbert, a Jamaican national has been caught at the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) trying to smuggle drugs into Barbados.

Hibbert, 30,  arrived in Barbados on Sunday, after he cleared immigration and was interviewed by members of the drug squad.

Hibbert was subsequently referred to a medical facility where he passed 33 packages of cannabis which he had ingested. The drugs weighed one pound.

Hibbert was  expected to appear at the District B Magistrate Court this afternoon to answer to the charges of possession of 1 pound of cannabis; possession with intent to supply; trafficking and importation.

He is seventh Jamaican national caught at the GAIA trying to smuggle drugs into Barbados this year.
