Influx of illegal Jamaicans

Bridgetown.

Officials of the Immigration Department are concern over the number of Jamaicans trying to enter the country illegally , including several women who are involved in marriages of convenience.

"Each day, we are dealing with somebody trying to get in, they are meeting the men over the over the internet and coming here to married them", says Senator Harry Husbands, parliamentary secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister  with responsibility for immigration.

  Husband spoke of a case in which a woman came to Barbados on three occassion to marry three different men.

According to a senior official in the Immigration Department, since 2009 when scores of illegal Guyanese started to leave Barbados because of an immigration amnesty, they had notice an influx of Jamaicans.
