Georgetown: This year’s 47th Independence Anniversary will be observed under the theme
“Guyanese womanhood and the struggle for development.”
Minister of Culture, Dr. Frank Anthony says that though women have played major roles in the development of Guyana, most of their work and struggles have not been properly documented. This, he says is a major challenge that the ministry will undertake to ensure the younger generation is educated in this regard. To this end, the annual independence exhibition was held at the national museum. The exhibition will display works of art, sculptures, novels, and other written accounts of social, political and economic achievements of women.
