Improve security at the Quays

The Government of Antigua and Barbuda’s has unveiled its plans for ramped-up security at the Quays in the captial St John’s.

The plan includes an increase in the number of security officers, specialized officer training, the installation of cameras and designated areas for patrol. It will apply to Heritage Quay and Redcliffe Quay.

According to the plan, there are a number of existing security issues in the area, including an “uncontrolled presence of taxi drivers,” inadequate security personnel and poor lighting, among others.

The document has been submitted to the St John’s Development Corporation for review, according to Antigua National Security Minister Dr Errol Cort.

Two months ago a woman was gunned at a shop in the Quays.
