Imposters posing as GECOM employees

Georgetown : The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) this afternoon says there are numerous reports that unauthorized persons, claiming to be employees of GECOM, have been visiting homes and giving the advice that people who are in possession of National Identification Cards need not apply for registration during the ongoing Claims and Objections exercise.  Vishnu Persaud, GECOM’s spokesperson said this advice is grossly misleading.

He pointed out only those persons who were issued ID cards after the 2008 House-to-House Registration exercise do not have to apply for registration.

GECOM make it abundantly clear that all of its employees working in the field wear, and are identifiable by, certified identification badges at all times during working hours.
