Hotel Manager, employee charged with 2012 murder

Bhagnarine Bhola also known as ‘Son’Georgetown: Two men were Thursday charged with the 2012 murder of 20-year-old Sadeek Juman who was killed between November 18 and November 19, 2014 at the hotel.

The Manager of the Double Day Hotel located at Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo and one of his employees were charged before Magistrate Rushelle Liverpool at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court.

Bhagnarine Bhola also known as ‘Son’, 27 and his co-accused Lealon Johnson called ‘Tallman’, 29, were jointly charged with the murder of 20-year-old Sadeek Juman who they allegedly killed between November 18 and November 19, 2014 at the hotel.

The men were not required to plead to the capital offense and were remanded to prison until December 16.  The matter was prosecuted by Inspector Matthews.

Juman, of Blankenburg, West Coast Demerara, was found dead in the pool at the Double Day Hotel on November 1, 2012. There were reports that he had visited the premises the previous day, in the company of friends. It is alleged that Juman had gotten into “a heated exchange” with a group of men at the hotel. The men allegedly inflicted a severe beating on Juman.

He was reportedly put in a room at the hotel. When it grew dark, Juman’s assailants allegedly put the still-unconscious youth in the hotel pool to give the appearance that he had drowned.

Dead: Sadeek JumanA post mortem showed that death was due to drowning, compounded by blunt trauma to the head. Farida Juman, the slain carpenter’s mother, had relentlessly pressed the police to solve the case.
