Herbert Volney: not me and the PP

volney  Port of Spain; St Joseph MP Herbert Volney stands firm as he swear he will not be a part of the ruling People's Partnership Government for the next general election. He is of the belief they are going down a path just as the former Prime Minister Patrick Manning, and does not wish to be a part of the fiasco. Mr. Volney said the ruling party will not win the St.Joseph nor any other seat in the entire East West corridor in the next general election, as the people are of the opinion the Government is not listening to the voice of the people.

Volney was fired as Justice Minister last September for his involvement in the Section 34 proclamation issue. Ironically, Mr. Volney has a new red Audi vehicle with the number plate PCY 34. He said he chose the number 34 because it made him unusually respected in Trinidad and Tobago, he sees it as his lucky number and 3 plus 4 makes seven which he claim is also his lucky number.

Volney feels emancipated by the entire Section 34 issue and said " I'm free to represent society with my views … I seek nothing more from this Government. Not me and the 'monarchy' again- I done with that! I can't have these kinds of bedfellows again."

He already notified his constituents that he will not be contesting the elections in 2015, and believe the opposition party PNM won have to work hard to win in the East West corridor because the people will be voting against the PP, and that the same fate Mr. Manning had at the last election will happen with Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

When asked if he will speak out against the PP in 2015 he responded saying "I will do what my conscience tells me to…" And when questioned if he would heed the PP request for him to contest again, he added " I leave it in God's hands. The way the PP's going now, I will not be a part of that. But two years is a long time in politics, they can still make a turnaround. They need to start listening to the people and she needs to get rid of a few people in her Cabinet."
