Following concerns raised about the sections of Angoy’s Avenue that are without service, the GWI Chief Executive explained that the programme is being implemented in phases and by early 2016 all sections of the water distribution network for the community should be completed.

He further committed to ensuring that contractors for the remainder of the programme will be sourced locally from Berbice.  Dr. Van West-Charles also indicated that the labour required to complete the installation of the distribution system will consist of skilled workers from Angoy’s Avenue and nearby communities to ensure that residents benefit from employment during the implementation of the programme.

Representatives of the Tucburg Cooperative Group indicated their approval after the GWI Chief Executive explained that a similar programme will be implemented for the community.

Addressing the Savannah Park Cooperative Group at another meeting, Dr. Van West-Charles indicated that GWI will offer all residents a payment contract in order to assist with the installation of the water distribution network needed to supply the scheme with water service.  ‘Residents will be allowed to pay for new service connections in affordable portions,’ stated the Chief Executive, ‘our aim is to provide for the many families in urgent need of water service’.
