GuyExpo Expectations Met….Exhibitors Speak Out

expoGeorgetown:  The exhibitors at GuyExpo 2013 are praising the organizers for what they describe as a more focused, business oriented event. More than 400 International and local exhibitors  converged on the National Exhibition Site over the last four days  for this massive event heralded,  as the country’s premier trade and investment exposition.

Most of the exhibitors pointed to the numerous benefits of attending this event over the years, including the fact that they are able to consolidate the purchasing process down from a timeline of weeks to a single day.

For the online Shopping Company, Zoon, GuyExpo 2013 marked the second year of participation; just twelve months ago they were first time exhibitors, testing the proverbial waters at the massive trade fair.

“We were here as first time exhibitors last year and we started with one booth; now we have taken three booths. The main reason we came back was because of the response last year and we signed up hundreds and hundreds of customers,” Zoon’s Manager, Mr. Leon Ramkirpaul explained.

Alluding to the additional highlights of participation, he continued, “They all came in and from GuyExpo they wanted to ship with us, from last year , with that overwhelming response that we got we saw it as another opportunity at GuyExpo this year to come bigger and better”.

He noted too that the company invested heavily in this year’s exposition, since they were confident of consumers’ response and optimistic of the marketing reach of the event.

Meanwhile, Sterling Products, long standing GuyExpo exhibitors used GuyExpo 2013 to introduce a new product, YoGreat, to the Guyanese market.

The company’s Assistant Manager for the Manufacturing and Business Unit, Ms. Sharlene Roberts took the time to explain the success of this move.

“We are here showcasing our local fruit flavoured yogurt and we are focusing this year on health products and we are encouraging everyone to try it. We have been coming to GuyExpo over the years because we love that we are the local manufacturers and Guyexpo gives us the opportunity to showcase what is done locally,” she stated.

Roberts said too that Sterling remains a steadfast supporter of the event as they have recognized that GuyExpo has always paid homage to the businesses in the manufacturing sector.

She said, “We are always happy to be at GuyExpo and to know that, as a local company they can recognize us.”

Mr. Warren Douglas of ‘Pandama Wines’ shared similar sentiments

“This is our fourth year and we have seen a progressive increase in the amount of people that have been attending GuyExpo over the years we have been here,” he said.

Douglas revealed that the flow of persons through the pavilions was a bit “slower” than the comparable period last year, despite this, however, persons that did visit the booth made purchases.

“I suppose the financial equivalent is still there. We keep coming back to Guyexpo because we love the products that we create and we love to see the reaction of the people when they taste it for the first time,” Douglas noted.

Yet another new company, MGV Rental Service saw the benefits of participating in the Trade Fair and chose to launch their product at GuyExpo 2013.

The entity provides rental service for cutlery and flat ware, of high quality standard for the hosting of any event in the country.

“It is the dream of my wife, she always wanted to get into this type of business so she decided to invest and as a result, GuyExpo came around and we decided to take a booth,” part owner of MGV , Mr. George Vyphuis explained.

As to the advantages of this move, he explained that thousands of persons passed through the Annex, where their booth was located, and many have expressed interest in other products and have now prompted the business owners to expand their product line.

“A lot of persons have showed interested and have taken our contact information to form partnerships,” he explained.

Though the curtains have come down on yet another GuyExpo, the successes of the event will resound until next year, when companies new and old will flock to the Sophia Exhibition Site for another chance to reach the Guyanese populace and the world at large.

GuyExpo 2013 was held at the National Exhibition Centre from October 3rd-6th , under the theme, ‘Advancing Productivity through Innovation, Modernisation and Expansion’.GuyExpo exhibitors 008
