Today, the National Commemoration Commission (NCC) hosted a volunteer drive at the Carifesta Sports Club. The drive saw Guyanese registering to serve in a number of areas for next year’s events.  Those categories include academia, ceremonial, commemorative, entertainment, infrastructure, youth, diaspora, and heritage and indigenous culture.

In her remarks, the Minister within the Ministry of Education, Nicolette Henry emphasized that all Guyanese will be working as a team to make the execution of the celebrations a success. Importantly, the volunteer drive will aid the creation of a data base that will be used extensively in 2016.

Training will be provided for the volunteers. This is not a herculean task for the Ministry as this will build on experiences from Carifesta X and Cricket World Cup.
