Guyana represented at Cuba’s Mental Health conference

The Third International Conference on Mental Health, Suicide and Domestic Violence will be held on March 28-30, 2019, in the Province of Ciego de Avila, in the Republic of Cuba.

This Third International Conference is being organized by the Guyana Foundation, whose Founder and President is Ms. Supriya Singh-Bodden, CCH, and the University of Medical Sciences of Ciego de Avila – and is actively supported by the Embassy of Guyana in the Republic of Cuba.

Two previous International Conferences were held in 2017 and 2018.

In this year’s Conference, some of the more prominent Cuban psychologists and psychiatrists will be making specialized Presentations on various subjects such as Strategy of Community Work for Health Promotion to Improve Self-care and Mental Health; Depression in Different Stages of Life; and Personality and Addictive Risks.

Among the Cuban Specialists are: Dr. Laura Dominguez Garcia, Dr. Miguel Angel Roca Perara, and Dr. Maria Luisa Ellis Yard.

Dr. Angel Batista Diaz, and Dr. Lourdes Alvarez Lopez, Rector of the University of Medical Sciences of Ciego de Avila and Head of the International Department of the University, respectively, have been actively involved in making preparations for the hosting of a successful Conference.

Last year, among participants were members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Republic of Cuba, and Special Invitees from the Unites States and the Caribbean Region.

Patron of the Guyana Foundation is the First Lady of Guyana, Her Excellency, Mrs. Sandra Granger.
