G/town looks like a ghost town after paid parking implementation

Georgetown : Since the Paid Parking came into effect as of Tuesday January 24, 2017, the heavy congestion of traffic has hauled. The meters that are in operations now are in most of the commercial areas of the capital city, Georgetown and where most businesses corporate offices are located.

The meters are managed by Smart City Solutions, a private overseas company, the largest operator of municipal on street meter parking in all of Latin America, Caribbean, Central America and all of South America and is hired by the Georgetown Mayor and City council.

Some argued that the paid parking were thrown upon them without no proper public consultation and workers who have an eight to four job will find it difficult, since the rate is GD$200. + 14% value added tax.

As some say the city now looks like a ghost town, others wonder if the buy cutting of the paid meters will put some pressure on the Mayor and City Council and Smart City Solutions.
