GPL planning to deliver quality power supply for holiday

GPL 2Georgetown: The Guyana Power and Light Inc., (GPL) is working to ensure that the highest quality of power supply is available to its customers base during the holiday seasons.

According to GPL’s Network Manager, Ms. Shaun Hamlet, GPL’s Technical Staff is working around-the-clock to complete all maintenance works for the upcoming festivities.

The Power Company stated that all customers should be advised that GPL technical crew is scheduled to complete all Transmission and Distribution (T&D) inclusive of Line Maintenance and Generation Planned Maintenance activities on December 14, 2013.

The Company is at the same time appealing to customers to conserve electricity.  Simple actions such as turning off appliance(s) when not in use will result in savings.

Earlier this year expert studies have revealed that companies practicing energy conservation can save at least five percent of their annual energy expenditures.

Energy conservation experts recommended that customers replace the incandescent light bulbs from main areas of their homes with energy saving light bulbs that use about 1/5 of the energy that a normal light bulb uses to provide the same amount of light will result in some savings on the electricity bills.

In addition changing the fridge settings to “medium” as opposed to “high” will also save money.

GPL encourages customers to visit the Company’s website to learn more on energy conservation and demand side management.
