Gov’t introduces new Wildlife Bill to National Assembly

Georgetown : The Wildlife Import and Export Bill, Bill No 20 of 2013 and the Local Authorities (Elections) (Amendment) Bill 2013-Bill No 21/2013 were read for the first time in the National Assembly last night.

The Wildlife Import and Export Bill presented by Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment Robert Persaud seeks to regulate international trade of Guyana’s wildlife, and to enable Guyana to fulfill its obligation under the Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, Washington 1973.

Minister of Local Government and Regional Development  Ganga Persaud presented the Local Authorities (Elections) (Amendment) Bill 2013-Bill No 21/2013 to intitule an act to amend the Local Authorities (Election) Act to provide for the postponement of elections of councillors of local democratic organs.
