Government selling land at bargin price

Bridgetown.

The Ministry of Housing and Lands in conjunction with the National Housing Corporation(NCH) are providing the opportunity for low income earners to become home-owners.

Three hundred and three lots are being for sale by the NCH at $500 per square foot in St.Philip, St Joseph,St John, St  Lucy, St George and St Thomas.

In addition to the land being offer at a low price in the six parishes, 166 starter homes are being constructed in St James and St Philip under the Government Starter Home Programme.

General Manager of the NHC, Charmaine Napoleon-Ramsay, told Trakker News there is a great demand for housing lots in the island with the NCH having over 25,000 requests for land or houses. Most of these requests Napoleon-Ramsay said were from low income earners.

A person must be earning less than $2500  per month to qualify for a lot or starter home. 

Land is currently selling as high as $40 per square foot.
