Germany to provide renewable energy to Georgetown City Council

IMG_1749Georgetown: Ambassador -Lutz Hermann Görgens, of the Federal Republic of Germany has signaled an interest in providing technical support to the Georgetown Municipality in the area of renewable energy and special training opportunities for Municipality.

This was disclosed during a courtesy call on Mayor Patricia Chase Green recently. Ambassador Görgens disclosed that the German embassy is willing to collaborate with the Georgetown City Council in special areas.  Ambassador Görgens lauded the Council for the improvement in the aesthetics of the environment.  The ambassador further stated that the change in way the environment looked is indeed commendable.

Town Clerk Royston King noted that the Council is not only restoring the environment through a rigorous cleaning regime, but also promoting the green city concept which include, efficient soil waste management, promoting environmental awareness and education, encouraging this use of solar energy, examining climate change and it impact on the City and urban forestation.  The Mayor Chase Green said that she welcomed the plans of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany and expressed a willingness to work along with the embassy. Mayor Patricia Chase -Green noted that the two nations have established a formal diplomatic relation in since September 1966 and have collaborated in a number of areas, particularly as it relates to forest preservation and climate change.
