GAIA files injunction against Redjet

Bridgetown.

Grantley Adams International Airport Inc (GAIA)  has filed an court injunction against insolvent airline Redjet to prevent the company from flying its last plane out of Barbados.

One of the two planes which Redjet had parked at the airport was flown out of the island on Saturday evening, causing the GAIA's lawyer Larry Smith to seek the injunction to stop the second aircraft from leaving Barbados.

Attorney at law Anthony Audian, speaking on behalf of the trustees appointed after Redjet filed for bankruptcy protection under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, told Trakker News the airline was trying to get the planes to the United States where the frames could be sold.

According to Audian, this had to be done by today when Redjet's pilots would be invalidated from from flying.

"The whole object of this exercise is to recover as much cash as possible for the creditors, including GAIA, so any step that stops that from happening , frustrates the objectives of the creditors", Audian said.

A source told Trakker News the hearing will take place at 8.30 this morning.
