Food For The Poor donates to Health Sector

Georgetown: The collaboration between the Ministry of Public Health and Food For The Poor (FFTP) (Guyana) Incorporated was furthered strengthened Wednesday with the provision of a supply of assorted vitamins.

CEO of FFTP, Kent Vincent explained that the majority of vitamins were specifically for men and those persons who trouble with iron intake. “Quite a bit of this may go into other regions that are in need, instead of [only] concentrating on the coast,” he suggested.

Vincent shared that the organisation is always steering in the direction of ensuring better health for all Guyanese.  “At Food for the Poor, we are always happy to be able to do our part to help those that are in need and to build the health of the people in Guyana especially our young children.”

Hon Volda Lawrence, Minister of Public Health, reiterated Vincent’s statement on ensuring the supplies are provided to all Guyanese. “We are going to try to ensure that these donations can go as far as possible…to ensure the persons in far-flung areas benefit.”

She added that the ministry is already extending the services at several locations. “We will soon have the Mahaicony Hospital coming on board with their theatres and their female and male wards, so most definitely some of those will be going there.”

The Minister extended her appreciation for the commitment Food For The Poor has shown this year, noting that it was unprecedented on in terms of support from the agency.   “In terms of our relationship, it’s every month you have been supplying us …many times meeting our needs on the spot.”

The Public Health Minister also thanked the agency’s head office in Florida, USA, for their continuous support.
