Focus on Phone Rights for World Consumer Rights Day Seminar

phoneGeorgetown: In observance of World Consumer Rights Day 2014, a joint one- day seminar will be held on Friday, March 14th at the Guyana International Conference Centre (GICC), Liliendaal, from 9:30hr.

The theme for this year’s observation is ‘Fix our Phone Rights’, and the issues to be addressed during this seminar will include, the  Consumer Affairs Divisions’ perspective on consumerism in the digital age , telephone rights, a panel discussion on the government regulation versus business fairness,  the question will also be raised on whether Guyana suffers from poor telecommunications service.

 World Consumer Rights Day is observed on March 15, this day is set aside to create awareness in terms of consumer protection measures as well as consumer rights; the aim of proposed activities is to raise awareness of the concerns consumers faced with regard to digital issues

The Business Community and consumers are therefore invited to participate in the one day seminar, hosted by the Consumer Affairs Division, in collaboration with the Competition and Consumer Affairs Commission and the Guyana National Bureau of Standards

The day is organized by Consumers International, an international federation which acts as an independent voice for all consumers, wherever they are in the world.
