Fly Jamaica begins operating Guyana Toronto route by August

FlyTourism Industry and Commerce Minister Irfaan Ali says by August, Fly Jamaica will begin operating the Guyana Toronto route.

Ali while addressing journalists in Toronto last evening, said Fly Jamaica will begin operating the Georgetown/Miami and Georgetown/ New York routes by July and promised to add the Georgetown/Toronto route by August.

He also revealed that the Guyana government is engaging other airlines, including Copa Air and several other private airlines to tap into the Guyana market.

Currently Guyana is serviced by one international carrier, Caribbean Airlines Limited.

However, last month, Caribbean Airlines, announced a sharp price increase for Guyanese passengers.

This announcement was rejected by the Guyana government and Ali had indicated his intentions of engaging the airline management over the fare increase.
